Iterating and Refining

AI generated content feels impressive, it is near instant and sounds spot on. But if you dig deeper, you'll find gaps. This is why it's important to keep your expertise in the loop.

Treat the model's output as a first draft. Think of it as getting 60, 80, maybe 90% of the way there. You can then refine outputs by asking follow-up questions or providing clearer instructions.

  • Getting Started: Provide a base prompt to generate an initial draft
  • Improving/Clarifying: Ask the AI to elaborate, correct, or expand specific sections
  • Refining: Polish the language, adjust tone, and verify facts (particularly for subject-specific content.)

  • Provide a variety of alternative activities for ...
  • Review how well a unit/lesson meets universal design for learning principles
  • Alter the tone to be appropriate for parent communication

Getting AI to do some heavy lifting is great, but there will likely be a point where you pull the content out of the tool and work on it locally to give it that final teachery touch... adjusting for your students, adding your classroom personality, or incorporating school-specific requirements.
